Trinidad police seize TT$400,000 in drugs hidden in barrels

Trinidad authorities discovered nearly 400,000 dollars worth of cannabis stashed inside shipping containers that arrived from Florida's Fort Myers port after intelligence teams flagged suspicious cargo during weekend surveillance operations. Officers executing a coordinated sweep at the Port of Spain dock facility extracted over four kilograms of premium-grade marijuana concealed beneath garments in barrels awaiting customs clearance.

Deputy Commissioner Suzette Martin spearheaded the multi-agency interdiction effort alongside tactical commander Collis Hazel, deploying personnel from port security units, customs enforcement, special investigations, and the National Operational Task Force. Investigators have yet to announce any arrests stemming from the seizure as they pursue leads connecting the shipment to trafficking networks operating between American and Caribbean distribution channels.
