Trump begs Hollywood to resurrect the Rush Hour franchise

President Trump has reportedly lobbied Paramount Skydance executives to revive the Rush Hour franchise should the studio successfully acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Sources indicate the commander-in-chief personally advocated for reuniting Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in a fourth installment, capitalizing on his relationship with the Ellison family that controls Paramount Skydance.

The presidential pitch extends beyond Rush Hour, with Trump expressing enthusiasm for Jean Claude Van Damme's martial arts vehicle Bloodsport, which Amazon and MGM currently hold. Industry observers suggest a Paramount acquisition could trigger a resurgence of traditionally masculine action cinema featuring tough heroes, explosive set pieces, and high-octane combat sequences.

Chan recently acknowledged openness to reprising his detective role but warned that age may soon prevent the reunion, noting both stars are approaching their twilight years since the 1998 original earned over $200 million globally.
