Trump says he wrecked Iran nuke sites

President Trump sent American forces to bomb Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday morning. He told the country that US attacks destroyed three major facilities where Iran makes nuclear materials. Trump called Iran the Middle East bully and said they must make peace. He warned Iran that America would hit more targets if peace does not come fast. The president said he decided long ago to stop letting Iran hurt Americans.

Lawmakers from both parties got angry about Trump acting without Congress approval. Some said the president went beyond his legal powers when he ordered the military action. Representative Thomas Massie called the strikes unconstitutional on social media. Another lawmaker wanted to pass a bill to stop America from getting pulled into another Middle East war. Many politicians worried the attacks could start a bigger conflict.

American military planes dropped huge 30,000-pound bombs on the Fordo nuclear site. Submarines also joined the fight and fired about 30 Tomahawk missiles at Iranian targets. The strikes happened after Israel had been bombing Iran for more than a week. Israeli forces had already damaged Iranian air defenses and missile systems before America jumped into the fight. Trump decided to help Israel after they said Iran was weak enough to attack.

Iran's top leader had warned America that any strikes would cause serious damage to the United States. Iranian officials said American involvement would start an all-out regional war. Trump had spent two months trying to talk Iran into giving up their nuclear program before choosing military force. The attacks mark a major change from Trump's earlier promises to avoid Middle East conflicts.
