TSMC Chip Boom Drives Taiwan Housing Prices Sky High

Taiwan's biggest tech company has created a housing crisis for regular people across the island. TSMC makes computer chips and brings huge profits to Taiwan. The company has plants in major cities like Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. Someone posted on DCard about how TSMC success has made buying homes impossible for average workers. House prices jump wherever the chip maker builds new factories.

The social media user said TSMC made Taiwan stronger but turned it into a money battleground. Cities with TSMC facilities see property values rise throughout the entire area. People who don't work as engineers or doctors cannot afford to buy houses anymore. Many families must rent instead of buying because prices have gone through the roof. Workers without high salaries face constant worry about housing costs.

Other people responded that TSMC also affects job markets because the company pays better wages than other employers. Some blamed the government for allowing real estate speculation to run wild. Critics pointed out that many wealthy Taiwanese people buy multiple properties as investments. Building companies don't care if new houses sit empty because they want property values to keep climbing higher.

Young people today cannot buy homes with regular jobs like previous generations could. The housing market has become a pyramid where rich professionals grab all the resources. People at the bottom can barely save enough money for down payments on apartments.
