Two ex CMs join Sabah state race

Two politicians who previously served as Sabah chief ministers are seeking reelection among 596 candidates competing for 73 seats in the state assembly. Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal will contest a four-way race to retain Senallang, where he secured victories with majorities exceeding 4,600 votes in recent elections. The 68-year-old led Sabah's government from 2018 through 2020.

Barisan Nasional treasurer Salleh Said Keruak, who governed the state from 1994 to 1996, defends Usukan in a six-candidate battle. The seat holder previously won with a margin approaching 4,300 votes and has represented the constituency across four terms. His challengers include former three-term assemblyman Japlin Akim and Kota Belud parliamentary representative Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis, who chairs Warisan's women division.
