Two National Unity Platform candidates have abandoned their campaigns for local council positions in Mbarara after alleging the party failed to deliver promised financial assistance and materials. Provia Bakazi and Hellen Kembaga announced their departures from both the elections and the political organization, stating that recruitment pledges made by Peter Mpaka were never honored.
Bakazi was seeking a councillor position representing Rwemigyina Ward, while Kembaga competed for a seat in Biharwe. Both women indicated they could not sustain operations across multiple cells without resources such as posters and monetary backing that had been assured during enrollment.
