Tyra Banks sued over $2.8 million ice cream shop lease fallout

Tyra Banks is facing a major lawsuit over her ice cream company, Smize & Dream. A landlord, Christopher Powell, is suing for over two point eight million dollars. He claims Banks and her business partner abandoned a ten-year lease for a Washington D.C. storefront signed earlier this year.

Powell states Banks personally pitched the location as a flagship for youth empowerment and global expansion. He alleges they vacated the property months later without paying any rent. The lawsuit further claims the pair opened a temporary shop nearby while still legally bound to his building.

The complaint says Banks later sent a letter citing property issues, which Powell calls false. He is seeking the full lease value plus legal fees. Attorneys for Banks have moved to dismiss the case, which remains pending in federal court.
