Ubisoft Ditches Forward Event as Chaos Brews

Ubisoft canceled its yearly Forward showcase for the first time since 2020. The video game company told reporters they want to connect with players and show new games at other events. Ubisoft will appear at Summer Game Fest activities like IGN Live and PC Gaming Show during June. The company also plans to attend Gamescom 2025 later this summer. Game reporters asked why Ubisoft skipped 2025 but received no clear answers.

The gaming company faces major changes after making a deal with Tencent that might cause more job cuts. Many popular game series from Ubisoft remain stuck without release dates or updates. Former company leaders currently stand trial for sexual harassment charges against workers. Assassin's Creed Shadows performed well but stands as the only recent success for Ubisoft. The failed shooter game XDefiant went offline permanently yesterday after poor sales.

Company boss Yves Guillemot probably wants to avoid talking about Ubisoft's problems during public presentations. The gaming studio lost money throughout 2024 with few successful game launches. Internal company changes make planning future projects difficult for development teams. Ubisoft hopes other gaming events will help promote upcoming titles without hosting their showcase. Fans must wait longer to see what new games Ubisoft plans to release.
