Uganda power bosses have planned a massive blackout across Central Uganda this Saturday. The electricity company will shut down power from 8 in the morning until 5 at night on July 5th. Thousands of homes and businesses across Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, and Mpigi districts will lose electricity for nine hours straight. Workers need to fix and upgrade the power grid to make it stronger and safer. The company says sorry for messing up everyone's weekend plans.
The shutdown hits major areas around the capital city hard. Kyaliwajjala, Nalya Estate, Kiwatule, Bulindo, and Nsawo residents will sit without power all day. Seeta, Sonde, Kiwanga, and Bukerere communities in Mukono district face the same problem. Gayaza town and surrounding villages also go dark during the maintenance work. Western parts of Kampala like Nateete, Busega, and Bulenga join the blackout list.
The power company warns customers to prepare for the long outage. People should charge their phones, stock up on candles, and plan activities that don't need electricity. Company officials tell everyone to stay away from power lines during the shutdown. They ask residents to call customer service if they spot any dangerous situations with electrical equipment. The upgrades should make power supply more reliable after the work finishes.
