UFS names Prof Nguza-Mduba deputy vice-chancellor

The University of Free State announced Professor Bulelwa Nguza-Mduba will become its Deputy Vice-Chancellor for People and Operations effective January 1, 2026. She will manage university human resources, facilities, security technology systems and commercial activities. Nguza-Mduba currently serves as Executive Dean of Management and Public Administration Sciences at Walter Sisulu University, bringing extensive leadership experience to Bloemfontein.

Her academic background includes a Doctor of Business Administration plus advanced degrees in business leadership and education. Nguza-Mduba has directed campus operations, managed community partnerships and secured funding for student support programs. University officials highlighted her proven ability to improve institutional efficiency while strengthening ties with surrounding communities. This appointment aligns with South African higher education goals for better resource management and staff development across university systems.
