Ugacof Grabs Top Coffee Crown in Fierce Export Battle

Ugacof leads Uganda's coffee export business with 12.58 percent of all sales during April 2025. The company shipped 87,330 bags that month. Export Trading Company came second with seven percent of the market. Ideal Quality Commodities ranked third at 6.89 percent. Olam Uganda and Louis Dreyfus Company also held major shares.

The top ten coffee exporters controlled 68.43 percent of Uganda's total exports during April. This number rose from 68 percent the month before. More than 80 companies exported coffee from Uganda that month. Competition remains fierce among these businesses. Some firms focus only on Robusta coffee beans and others sell just Arabica.

Uganda ships more coffee than any other African country. The nation earned nearly two billion dollars from coffee sales between May 2024 and April 2025. Export volumes jumped from 5.90 million bags to 7.17 million bags during that period. Coffee exports grew by over one billion dollars compared to the previous year. Uganda continues building its reputation as one of the world's fastest growing coffee economies.
