Uganda flexes peace muscles over Sudan chaos

Defence Minister Jacob Oboth-Oboth met with Sudan's Ambassador Ahmad Ibrahim Ahmad at ministry offices in Mbuya today. The officials discussed Sudan's changing security problems and recent military actions to take back Khartoum from armed groups. Leaders also talked about efforts to create a temporary civilian government for the troubled nation. Oboth-Oboth said Sudan's stability affects the entire East African region. He stressed that Uganda exports peace and President Museveni supports nations facing difficulties.

The minister explained that countries must balance talking and fighting when dealing with conflicts. He said stopping talks makes others think you are weak but stopping fights suggests surrender. Uganda backs causes that ordinary people support across the region. Ambassador Ahmad thanked Uganda for hosting more than 90,000 Sudanese refugees during the current crisis. He said Uganda became the easiest and safest place for people fleeing violence.

The ambassador credited military progress in Khartoum to strong public support for government forces. He outlined plans to name a civilian prime minister and create a technical cabinet soon. International groups like the United Nations and African Union welcome these political moves. Major General Jack Bakasumba urged stronger regional cooperation through Eastern Africa military partnerships. Several other officials attended the diplomatic meeting between both countries.
