Uganda increased its medal tally to nine at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh after Samuel Simba Cherop and Abel Chebet finished among the top three competitors in the men's 10,000 meters at Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium. Chebet secured bronze while organizers are reviewing the positions for gold and silver following an incident where Bahrain's Birhanu Balew allegedly obstructed Cherop during the final stretch.
Team Uganda will compete across multiple events as Tom Dradriga enters the men's 1,500 meters, Halim Nakaayi participates in the women's 800 meters, and Charity Cherop, alongside Risper Cherop, take part in the women's 5,000 meters final. Wrestler Veronica Ayo faces opponents from Kyrgyzstan and Algeria in the women's 57-kilogram division, while para powerlifter Dennis Mbaziira will compete later. Earlier medals came through swimming, table tennis and boxing competitions.
