Uhuru stirs 2027 opposition drama with Kalonzo-Matiang’i push

The retired commander-in-chief is officially back to pulling strings from abroad. Uhuru Kenyatta seemingly wants a Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang'i tag team to disrupt the twenty-twenty-seven polls. This theory gained traction after he stayed three days in Lagos strategizing with the Wiper boss.

They huddled with Nigerian elder statesman Olusegun Obasanjo and toured his library in Ogun State. Dan Maanzo from Makueni confirmed these talks represent serious business. He noted that the pair intends to visit Raila Odinga shortly to align their game plan.

Uhuru still pushes his old Interior CS Matiang'i for the presidency despite the bureaucrat lacking elective history. Jubilee Party serves as the launchpad here. However, this interference messes up the United Opposition, which already fights over who actually runs the show.

Rigathi Gachagua finds this awkward since he distrusts Jubilee entirely. The DCP boss urged Matiang'i to create a local Kisii vehicle instead. He argues that Jubilee acts like a government mole while he simultaneously cuts deals with Kalonzo to share Nairobi seats.

William Ruto’s allies accuse the ex-leader of sabotaging their administration through these shadow games. Even specific ODM legislators claim Uhuru fuels splits within their party. The whole alliance looks incredibly fragile as everyone chases power.
