UK Closes Care Worker Visa Route for Overseas Applicants Starting July 22

Britain slams the door shut on foreign care workers starting July 22nd. The government blocks new Certificate of Sponsorship applications for people living outside the country. Zimbabweans and other nationals lose their easiest path to UK work visas. The popular migration route disappears for thousands of hopeful applicants. Care facilities must find workers from a much smaller pool.

People already living in Britain can still apply for care worker sponsorship under strict rules. They must work legally for a sponsor for at least three months before getting approved. The job must appear on the updated occupation codes list. Applications close completely on July 22nd, 2028. Workers face a tight deadline to secure their positions.

Officials scrap the old shortage occupation list and create a new Temporary Shortage List. The fresh system covers more medium-skilled jobs but removes higher-skilled positions. Construction workers see major changes as bricklayers and roofers disappear from priority roles. Plumbers, painters, and decorators take their place on the approved list. Salary discounts vanish for all shortage category jobs.

Families suffer the harshest blow under the new immigration rules. Sponsored workers cannot bring their wives, husbands, or children to Britain. The dependent ban starts immediately after July 22nd for all new applications. Many potential migrants will abandon their UK dreams because of family separation. The policy shift marks the end of an era for international care worker recruitment.
