Ukhozi FM reveals 2025 Song of the Year contenders

Ukhozi FM dropped its top ten tracks for the 2025 Song of the Year competition after switching up how voting works to keep things cleaner. Listeners picked their favorites from a pre-approved batch of 20 songs instead of throwing out random nominations, which supposedly cuts down on rigging drama. The station announced a Chesterville car wash through presenter Khathide Ngobe.

Jazzworx and Thukuthela landed three spots on the list with their collaborations like Isaka and Bengicela, completely dominating airplay lately. Zee Nxumalo grabbed two entries with Mamma and Mali, while other contenders include Sjava's Uyena and a Sam Deep group track called Shela. Umafikizolo represents maskandi as the only traditional genre entry among a bunch of 3-step and amapiano-leaning bangers.

The winning artist scores a VW Polo, and fans can text their votes to a premium SMS line before the big reveal happens during the New Year crossover broadcast.
