Officials and chiefs are pushing a plan for farms to live with wildlife. A new conservation and food security program was launched at the Umfurudzi Safari Area, featuring free fertilizer for nearby farmers. Shamva North lawmaker Isaac Chinodakufa said the goal is to teach villagers, through their traditional leaders, how to coexist with animals from the park while protecting the environment. The donated fertilizer aims to boost crop yields and help household food supplies.

He said coordinated efforts are now tackling these issues with tree planting and awareness campaigns, after the government helped with flood-damaged homes. The park manager, Dr. Tawanda Chipere, stated the fertilizer came from a company called United Capital Fertilisers, given in recognition of the chief's conservation work.
