Universal Pension Scheme Exceeds 373,000 Enrollments as Drive Expands

Bangladesh's Universal Pension Scheme has attracted 373,312 new members across four different categories. The government designed this program to help people aged 18 and older save money for their later years. Officials continue working to spread news about the pension plan and encourage more people to sign up. The Finance Division recently sent out instructions to provide registration money from the national budget. This funding will help Union Digital Centers process more applications.

The National Pension Authority wants to hold special events and training sessions across the country. These pension fairs will take place at division, district and upazila offices to reach more citizens. Authority leaders believe face-to-face meetings will help explain how the system works. Local officials can answer questions and help people complete their paperwork. The events will make joining the pension program much easier for rural residents.

Bank partnerships have made paying monthly contributions simple for pension members. Twelve banks have already signed agreements with the pension authority to handle payments. Mobile money services Nagad and bKash also joined the payment network for customer convenience. Ten additional banks are currently discussing similar deals with government officials. The authority plans to add new features that will make the pension system even more user-friendly for all participants.
