Urgent Warning Keep Kids Safe on Kenya Roads

Kenya Urges Caution as Children Return to School.

NAIROBI, Kenya—The National Transport and Safety Authority has an important message. They want everyone to be very careful on the roads, as children will soon go back to school.

The new school year starts next week. Many kids will be traveling. The Authority says safety is a big priority.

They want drivers to follow traffic rules, which will help prevent crashes, which can hurt or kill people.

The Authority has seen some bad behavior lately. They have done safety checks on roads across Kenya, and some drivers are not being safe.

This is not good. It could put children in danger. Kids will be going back to school. The roads will be busy.

The Authority wants all drivers to do a few things:
  • Drive carefully
  • Slow down
  • Follow the Highway Code

Parents and schools have a big job, too. They must make sure kids are safe.

Vehicles carrying children need to be in good shape, have insurance, and have special speed devices that share data with officials.

Vehicles also need the right licenses and paperwork. Everything must be up to date.

Parents can use a special app on their phones. It is called the NTSA Mobile App and is free.

The app lets you check on buses and other vehicles, see if they are safe for kids, and look up details about the driver.

Do not let your child get in an unsafe vehicle. Their well-being is too important.

If you see a dangerous driver, tell the authorities. They will take action, making the roads safer for everyone.

Remember, we all have a part to play. Road safety is something we do together. If each person is careful, many lives can be saved.

This is very important as the school year begins. The roads will soon be filled with Kenya's precious children. Let us all do our part to get them to school and back home again safely.
