Uttar Pradesh Police expose global terror links in illegal religious conversion syndicates

Uttar Pradesh authorities dismantled a religious conversion network that received money from Canada and used methods similar to terrorist groups. Police arrested Mohammad Umar Gautam, Mufti Jahangir Alam Qasmi, and Chhangur Baba during Operation Mission Asmita. The suspects targeted poor families through bribes and threats. Investigators found connections to the banned Popular Front of India organization.

State police chief Rajeev Krishna announced the arrests during a press conference on Saturday. Officers from the Anti-Terrorism Squad and Special Task Force participated in the raids. The network operated across multiple states and received foreign funding to destabilize communities. Police arrested ten people from six different states in the Agra district alone.

The conversion ring used tactics borrowed from ISIS recruitment strategies. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the police to respond to these groups. Authorities pledge to continue targeting similar networks that threaten social harmony through fraudulent religious activities.
