Uzumba Woman Sentenced for Selling Fake Honey

A woman from Uzumba must perform 140 hours of community service after selling fake honey to a customer for $1,400. Abigail Musewe, 48, faces fraud charges alongside Constance Mudzima, 45, who already admitted guilt when they appeared before Harare Provincial Magistrate Gerald Chikuse. Mudzima asked for mercy during her hearing. Musewe maintains she just connected the buyer with Mudzima but wasn't involved in any scam.

The magistrate gave Mudzima a 12-month prison sentence but modified it significantly. Four months were suspended for five years if she stays out of trouble. Another four months vanished on condition that she pays back the full $1,400 to Precious Kusotera. The remaining time became community service instead of jail time.

Court records show the fraud happened on April 10, around 2:30 p.m. Mudzima falsely promised pure honey but delivered buckets containing a mixture of honey with brown sugar. The customer discovered the deception when she supplied the product to a Kambucha company for processing.
