Vijay Varma drops villain mask for poetic romance in Gustaakh Ishq

Vijay Varma has deliberately shifted away from antagonistic roles that earned him simultaneous praise and audience contempt, seeking to eliminate the hatred associated with his villainous portrayals across projects like IC-814 and Jaane Jaane. The performer revealed his desire to embrace romantic territory through Gustaakh Ishq, a Manish Malhotra production set against the backdrop of vintage Delhi architecture and Punjabi heritage homes, where he portrays a gentle suitor opposite Fatima Sana Sheikh.

Standing alongside legendary performer Naseeruddin Shah while delivering lyrical dialogue presented fresh obstacles for the actor accustomed to menacing intensity. Varma acknowledged the adjustment required when transitioning between character extremes, comparing the vulnerability demanded by romance to the brutality he displayed in earlier work. The performer expressed interest in exploring comedic terrain as his next artistic evolution.

The Stage5 Production release weaves passion and unspoken yearning through a narrative where structures preserve memories and melodies convey longing.
