Vinay Thakur touts India's digital push at IICA

A senior government official has described how Digital Public Infrastructure has transformed service delivery across India while reducing disparities between cities and rural areas. Vinay Thakur, who serves as Special Director General at BISAG-N under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, outlined the impact of platforms including Aadhaar, Unified Payments Interface, DigiLocker, BharatNet, Co-WIN, UMANG, MeghRaj Cloud and various GIS systems during an event hosted by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.

Thakur linked these advances to the Digital India initiative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, characterizing technology as an instrument for social inclusion and economic growth. The cybersecurity expert warned about mounting digital threats and stressed the need for protective frameworks, pointing to the DPDP Act, artificial intelligence-enabled attacks and post-quantum cryptography as priority concerns.

The session drew active involvement from academic staff and students, with participants examining topics spanning digital governance, data protection and cloud security during the discussion period.
