Two women face robbery charges in Bulawayo after authorities linked them to heists totaling $36,000. Sekai Vumbunu, sister to the Vumbunu brothers accused in a $4 million Ecobank robbery, appeared with Florence Chisiri before Regional Magistrate Luke Ncube on Monday. Prosecutors allege the pair, who work as illegal foreign exchange dealers, led a September raid at Nkolozi Investments' bureau de change that netted $18,000 and R151,000. The women also stand accused of stealing $4,000 and R60,000 from a patron at a Fife Street restaurant on Aug. 10.
Police arrested accomplices Nehemiah Dladla, 38, and Simon Dube, 28, after a chase through the Mbundane suburb. Their statements led investigators to Vumbunu. The arrests renewed attention on the Vumbunu family after brothers Elijah and Abraham gained notoriety for the October Ecobank heist. South African authorities detained the brothers following a joint operation with the Zimbabwe Republic Police. The siblings await extradition while facing multiple charges spanning decades of alleged organized crime.
