Waititu and wife found guilty in road tender kickback scandal

A judge named Thomas Nzioki said Mr. Ferdinand Waititu did something wrong with money meant for roads. Mr. Waititu was the leader of Kiambu County, and he helped give a big job worth 588 million shillings to people he knew. These people gave him back 25 million shillings, which was against the rules.

The judge listened to 32 people tell what happened. They showed papers proving Mr. Waititu put the money in his company, Saika Two Developers, and his hotel, Bienvenue. Mr. Waititu said people wanted to hurt him because of politics, but the judge did not believe him.

Another person named Lucas Wahinya helped Mr. Waititu break the rules. He did not listen when someone told him there were problems with giving the job to Mr. Waititu's friends. The friends owned a company called Testimony Enterprises.

The judge said Mr. Waititu, his wife Susan, and the people who owned Testimony Enterprises did not follow the right procedures. They were supposed to make better roads in places like Thika, Limuru, and others. The court said they could not prove some things about hiding money, but they proved many other wrong things.

The people who did wrong must come back to court after 45 minutes. They will tell the judge why he should not punish them harshly. The judge will decide what happens to them because they used public money in the wrong way.
