Walter Magaya challenges authorities over trial delays

Walter Magaya's legal team has accused Zimbabwean authorities of conducting investigations through public statements rather than proper procedures, demanding prosecutors set a trial date or face an application to dismiss charges against the Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder. Defense attorney Admire Rubaya challenged police claims about a bribery fund involving substantial sums, arguing that investigators arrested his client before completing their work and continued causing harm through what he termed megaphone tactics.

Prosecutors requested additional time to gather witness statements for fraud allegations connected to purported housing developments in Chishawasha, Norton, and Bulawayo dating back nearly a decade. The National Prosecuting Authority claims congregants were misled about land acquisitions through advertisements promoting mining and farming ventures.

Magaya, his wife Tendai, and their associated companies Planet Africa and Yadah Connect appeared at Harare Magistrates Court, where the state pledged to provide a hearing schedule at the next session.
