Wankhede takes on Aryan Khan, Shah Rukh over 'defamatory' show

Delhi High Court questioned the jurisdiction and maintainability of IRS officer Sameer Wankhede's defamation case against Netflix, Red Chillies Entertainment, and director Aryan Khan. The court directed Wankhede to revise his legal petition before scheduling the next hearing. Wankhede filed the suit over alleged defamatory content in the web series "The Ba***ds of Bollywood." The officer claims the show portrays him negatively through a character conducting drug raids similar to his 2021 cruise operation.

The petitioner argues that law enforcement agencies appear tarnished through the series' portrayal. He alleges the show violates Information Technology Act provisions and Indian Penal Code sections. Wankhede specifically objects to a scene where a character says "Satyamev Jayate" before making inappropriate gestures. The officer contends this sequence insults the national emblem and violates the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.
