Water crisis looms for Harare as Morton Jaffray plant goes dark

Harare authorities will suspend operations at Morton Jaffray Water Treatment Works No. 1 between July 18 and 20, 2025. Maintenance crews plan to clean and service the water storage facilities over three days. North-eastern residential areas, such as Greendale, Mandara, Chikurubi, and Chisipite, face water shortages. Eastern communities, including Mabvuku, Tafara, Zimre Park, Epworth, and Ventersburg, will experience similar disruptions. Municipal officials expressed regret for the inconvenience and encouraged residents to prepare adequately while conserving available water supplies.
