Land experts gathered at DEAT Capital's Smart Township and Rural Opportunities Forum to discuss land policies for food security in Zimbabwe. Professor Mandi Rukuni explained that agriculture sparked the Industrial Revolution. He stressed that lower production costs help create affordable products that everyone can buy. When people have enough food, they become more creative with ideas that might change the world. Professor Rukuni believes we need full stomachs and extra money to be innovative, not just education from academic institutions.
He pointed out that many people leave rural areas for cities because of manufacturing struggles, but people want better services. Rural industrialization offers the solution to this problem. According to Rukuni, farmers must produce crops that industries need. He emphasized the importance of strong relationships between farmers and industrial partners. These connections help both sides succeed in the modern economy.
