Business Tycoon Chivayo Backs Magwizi for ZIFA Presidency, Pledges Millions.
Wicknell Chivayo, a prominent businessman, has endorsed Nqobile Magwizi in today's Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) presidential election. Chivayo promised major sponsorship deals if Magwizi wins.
Six candidates are running for ZIFA president: Magwizi, Martin Kweza, Marshall Gore, Philemon Machana, Makwinji Soma-Phiri, and Twine Phiri.
Chivayo said Magwizi is the best choice to lead Zimbabwean football. He pointed to Magwizi's success in getting big sponsorships for top clubs like Highlanders FC and Dynamos FC.
"Magwizi is a respected businessman," Chivayo said. "He has skills in finance, marketing, and sports. He has a passion for the game. Zimbabwe needs his leadership to make ZIFA world-class and revive our football."
Chivayo promised to give Magwizi a new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser worth $200,000 if he wins. He said this car is fit for a ZIFA president.
But Chivayo did not stop there. He also plans to give new vehicles to ZIFA board members and councilors nationwide. He will reveal more details later.
Chivayo made his biggest pledge: He will give ZIFA $10 million if Magwizi is elected.
"I will sponsor ZIFA with $10 million," Chivayo said. "This money will go to youth programs, running the organization, and growing the business of football. But this will only happen if Magwizi wins without any doubt."
Chivayo reminded people that he gave ZIFA $1 million in 2015 when Philip Chiyangwa was president.
"I supported ZIFA under Chiyangwa's leadership," he said. "I am ready to do it again. But this time, my donation will be ten times more."
