Wike warns AMAC chairman over improper street naming in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has explained why he will not forgive the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, again. Wike stated he had previously forgiven Maikalangu for naming streets and roads after individuals he preferred, but warned it would not be tolerated moving forward.

Speaking during the flag-off of infrastructure provision in Guzape A09 and AIT Neighborhood in Asokoro, Wike directed the AMAC Chairman to adhere to due process before naming any roads or streets in the capital. He stressed that only individuals who have made significant contributions to the country should be honored in this way.

Wike added that those who have made a lasting impact on Nigeria, such as athletes or other notable figures, would be considered for such honors.
