Witchcraft Threats Fly Over Zaka School Fee Hike

Parents at Musenyereki Primary School in Zaka are angry about fee increases and school management issues. They threaten the head teacher, Madam Mureyi, with legal action or even witchcraft if their concerns remain unaddressed. One parent from Banduki Village complained they missed work because of these problems and questioned why the fees keep rising. He warned Mureyi she might face their "goblins at night" if she continues running the school poorly.

When reporters asked about these threats, Mureyi refused to comment, saying she lacked permission to speak with the media. The local District Schools Inspector knew about problems at the school but said he needed more information. The audio recording of threats from February still circulates today as tensions remain high.

Some people close to the situation say Mureyi lacks proper communication skills for a rural community. Parents became upset after she kept students who hadn't paid fees confined to one classroom all day instead of sending them home. They also claim she failed to explain how money for a computer program was spent. Teachers reportedly leave the school often because of her management style.
