A court in Brikama heard a theft case yesterday. Tijan Jallow faces charges of taking money from his workplace, Afro Express Bureau de Change.
The amount stands at 1.9 million dalasi. At first, Jallow said he did not take the money. But when Principal Magistrate Anna Mendy asked him what he did with it, he admitted he used it for betting.
His former workplace, Afro Express, says Jallow took 1,975,84 dalasi last December. The accused man is 28 years old.
Police officer Buteh Sawaneh spoke about bail. He pointed out the large sum of money in the case. The court set bail at 2 million dalasi. Jallow must present four people from The Gambia as his backers. He also needs to show papers for two properties.
