Xbox Ally Handheld Price Row Has Fans Fuming

Microsoft plans to release the ROG Xbox Ally gaming handhelds during late October. The company faces pricing challenges due to trade tariffs on Chinese and Taiwanese products. Windows Central reports that earlier price rumors may prove inaccurate because of these economic factors. ASUS builds the devices in countries affected through current trade policies. Microsoft has not announced final costs for either gaming system.

The base ROG Xbox Ally uses AMD Ryzen Z2A processors for better battery performance. Premium Xbox Ally X models feature AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chips that create higher frame rates. Both systems use LCD screens instead of OLED displays to reduce power consumption. ASUS chose variable refresh rate support over premium screen technology for cost reasons. The manufacturer revealed both handhelds during Xbox Games Showcase events earlier this month.

Original price estimates suggested $499 for standard models and $799 for premium versions. Trade tariffs could force Microsoft to adjust these numbers before launch. The gaming handhelds will compete against Steam Deck and other portable systems. Both devices arrive worldwide before the current year ends. Microsoft continues evaluating final pricing amid changing economic conditions.
