Yeboah scores UN weapons cop job for Ghana

Ghana has achieved a notable step internationally as Samuel Williams Yeboah becomes the first Ghanaian to join the United Nations Group of Governmental Experts on the UN Register of Conventional Arms. Mr. Yeboah, who also leads the Global Arms Control Advocates, contributed significantly to the group’s final report, which aims to shape global standards for transparency and responsibility in the arms trade. His selection marks an important moment for both Ghana and Africa, showing a growing influence in global peace and disarmament matters. Established in 1991, the register asks member countries to submit annual reports on major conventional weapon transfers, with the goal of promoting security through openness and cooperation. The group’s final report is expected to help guide countries in following these reporting practices and strengthen efforts for disarmament and peace.
