President William Ruto says Moi University's money and leadership problems will end soon. The school has struggled with low funds and claims of bad money management. Ruto has made a team to look at the issues. They will suggest fixes. "We will bring in good leaders," he said. "We will also give the school enough money. This will help Moi do well like other state universities."
Ruto spoke on Friday. It was his second day visiting the area. He was opening a new technical school in Uasin Gishu County and starting a new computer lab at the school. Many leaders came with him, including the Deputy President and governors.
The President wants young people to use the internet in good ways. They can make money with their skills. But he is worried that some are using it for bad things. He said young people should not make computer images of people in coffins. "Use the internet to earn money with your talents," he said. "Do not use it to put people in coffins."
Ruto said leaders should not tell young people to misuse the internet. He thinks this could lead to a generation that will hurt itself. The government plans to connect 100,000 public places to the internet, using 100,000km of fiber optic cable.
Earlier, Ruto said the government will spend Sh1.8 billion. This money will connect 20,000 homes in Uasin Gishu to electricity in the next three years. The plan is to connect one million homes in the whole country.
Ruto told his political rivals that it is not time to campaign for 2027 yet. That time will come later. He asked Kenyans not to listen to those who criticize the government. He said they spread lies. Instead, people should support the country's plans to grow.
"Kenya can only move forward if we are united," Ruto said. "That is how we will have a nation we are all proud of." He said the government has made good progress. This is even though the country was in a tough spot with money when they took over.
Ruto said the dollar was once worth 160 shillings, but now it is down to 128 shillings. He also said inflation was 9.6 percent in 2022, but they have cut it to 2.8 percent, the lowest it has been in almost 20 years.
