Yunus preps for UN speech on Bangladesh's big election and Rohingya crisis

Prof Muhammad Yunus addresses the 80th United Nations General Assembly on Friday at 2pm New York time. Bangladesh's Chief Adviser will present the nation's stance on global challenges and democratic progress during this historic session. His remarks will emphasize the interim government's pledge to conduct free and fair elections during February's first half.

The speech will spotlight three primary themes of reform, justice, and electoral preparation while addressing international concerns about climate change, peacekeeping, and sustainable development. Yunus plans to advocate for stronger global support regarding the Rohingya crisis. The UN will host an unprecedented high-level conference on Myanmar's minority situations on September 30th. This assembly represents a significant opportunity for Bangladesh to showcase its democratic transition and reform initiatives to the international community.
