Bangladesh Calls for international cooperation on a durable solution to Rohingya Crisis

Bangladesh keeps pushing for help with the massive Rohingya refugee problem that has dragged on for years. The country's top diplomat told world leaders at a major human rights meeting that everyone must work together to send these people back home safely. Ambassador Tareq Md Ariful Islam spoke during the big conference happening right here in Geneva. He wants other nations to step up and share the huge burden his country carries. The diplomat made clear that Bangladesh cannot handle this crisis alone anymore.

Violence keeps getting worse for Rohingya people stuck back home in Myanmar. Armed groups and military forces there keep attacking civilians and blocking aid workers from helping. Nearly 118,000 more Rohingya people ran away to Bangladesh just since last November to escape the killing and persecution. The fighting has made life horrible for these Muslims who have nowhere else to turn. Myanmar authorities refuse to stop the brutal attacks against innocent families.

World leaders agreed on a new plan to tackle this refugee disaster during their meeting yesterday. The resolution demands that Myanmar stop the violence and let aid groups help people who need food and medicine. Countries around the globe must share responsibility for taking care of these refugees instead of leaving everything to Bangladesh. A major conference about the Rohingya crisis will happen in New York this September. Leaders hope this meeting will finally produce real solutions that actually work.
