Zanu PF fights for win in Glen View South

Zanu PF stepped up efforts to grab the Glen View South seat with teams hitting the streets for road shows and knocking on doors ahead of April 12 by-elections. The party wants a big win. Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe spoke at a community meeting yesterday in Glen View. He stressed that President Mnangagwa puts service delivery first in all development plans.

Minister Garwe promised better living standards for Zimbabweans under the Second Republic. He announced that people living in council houses should stop paying rent right away. The government will give these residents title deeds for their homes. "The rentals you have paid are enough to claim those properties," Garwe told the crowd.

Garwe praised Mnangagwa's practical approach and commitment to citizens. He pointed to the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Program and Presidential Borehole Scheme as proof. The minister warned municipal police against bothering vendors and housing groups. He said officials plan to build a proper market in Glen View and a furniture wholesale market in Area 8.

The minister criticized former Zanu PF Central Committee member Blessed Runesu Geza for disrespecting President Mnangagwa. He urged everyone to respect the President and asked those working with Geza to stop creating divisions in the party. Dr. Paul Tungwarara, Special Advisor on Investments to the President, revealed that Mnangagwa released $200,000 through the Presidential Revolving Fund.

This money helps Glen View entrepreneurs access loans for starting or growing businesses. "The loans are accessible to every resident of Glen View," Dr. Tungwarara explained. National Political Commissar Munyaradzi Machacha handed over solar boreholes and solar power systems in Glen View. These installations belong to the Presidential Borehole Scheme led by Mnangagwa.

Machacha explained how this project tackles water shortages in Glen View. The equipment provides clean water and electricity as Zimbabwe moves toward its Vision 2030 goals. Zanu PF candidate Tsitsi Tranquillity Tawomhera expressed confidence about winning. She believes development projects under Mnangagwa have made the party popular with voters.

"We will rule by winning hearts through our actions. Look at what Zanu PF accomplishes under the New Dispensation," Tawomhera said. She faces four opponents: three independent candidates - Tungamirai Madzokere, Tonderai Chakaredza, and George Makwangwaidze - plus Perpetua Mukanda from the NCA party. Tawomhera thinks voters learned from "mistakes" in the 2023 elections.

She thanked President Mnangagwa for bringing clean water to Glen View, saying this prevents diseases like cholera and typhoid. Resident Noreen Pedro expressed thanks for reliable electricity. "I pledge my full support to the President. Fear not; we stand behind you. We thank you for giving us reliable electricity. We face no more power cuts," Pedro said.
