Zimbabwe Party Moves to Expel War Veteran Over Presidential Criticism.
Zanu-PF's Mashonaland West province called for the removal of war veteran Blessed Geza from the party after his public attacks on President Mnangagwa. The decision came at a large gathering in Zvimba East Constituency yesterday.
Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi said Geza misused his party position. "Members can air grievances democratically. But using party status to attack leadership breaks our rules. Anyone wanting to challenge the President should wait for the 2027 Congress."
Provincial chair Mary Mliswa-Chikoka labeled Geza's statements as treason. "He has been out of line. If he wants to oppose our President, he must leave Zanu-PF first."
The War Veterans League joined the criticism of their fellow member. Party officials noted Geza had skipped important meetings and made baseless claims against the leadership.
State Minister Marian Chombo, who serves on the National Disciplinary Committee, offered Geza a chance to apologize. "He should retract his statements publicly before we take action," Chombo said.
Youth leader Tapiwa Masenda and Women's League head Constance Shamu pledged support for Mnangagwa. Several Central Committee members from Sanyati backed the expulsion plan.
The party cited Article Three of its constitution, which demands loyalty to elected leaders. Officials said the province stands behind extending President Mnangagwa's term by two years to achieve his Vision 2030 goals.
The recommendation for Geza's removal awaits review by party chairperson Oppah Muchinguri and the National Disciplinary Committee.
