Zanzibar authorities are examining fundamental factors driving escalating gender-based violence cases despite government efforts to prevent and prosecute such offenses, according to Deputy Permanent Secretary Mzee Ali Haji from the President's Office for Constitution, Legal Affairs, Public Service and Good Governance. Haji addressed capacity-building sessions for police Gender and Children's Desk officers in Unguja Region, emphasizing the need to eliminate lenient responses toward perpetrators.
