Zelensky calls for Europe army as US support fades

Ukraine's leader, Zelensky, wants to build a new army for all of Europe because he thinks America might no longer help them fight against Russia. He shared this idea at a big meeting in Munich, Germany.

Zelensky felt worried after American leaders Trump and Putin said they would talk about peace without asking Ukraine what it thinks. He believes Europe needs its own strong army to protect itself. A different American leader, Vance, told European countries they must become stronger at defending themselves.

Zelensky remembered what happened when Trump talked to Putin recently. He noticed Trump did not say anything about Europe needing to join their talks, which made him think the old days when America always helped Europe might be ending. France's leader, Macron, agrees with this idea of making a European army.

Russia started fighting Ukraine almost three years ago. Some American leaders think Ukraine will not be able to join NATO, which is a group of countries that help protect each other. They also think Ukraine cannot take back all the land Russia took from them. But Zelensky said he still wants Ukraine to become part of NATO.
