Zesa workers nabbed for vanishing $28k in cables

Four Zesa workers got busted for a brazen cable heist in Karoi. The arrested employees include chief security officer Christen Mutabvure, former clerk Emma Kamba, stores clerk Beloved Mudiwa, and lead artisan Blessing Guramatunhu, all accused of stealing over twenty-eight thousand dollars worth of electrical gear.

The scheme involved intercepting shipments from central stores. In one instance, Mutabvure allegedly took a spool of heavy cable himself, directing a hired truck carrying a large conductor drum to pull over in Southerton, where unknown people unloaded it, sending the truck empty to the depot. This playbook was repeated weeks later with another missing drum. The store's clerk, Mudiwa, eventually reported the pressure to sign for materials he never received after a separate failed delivery from Chinhoyi, prompting the internal investigation. Police are now handling the case following the official report.
