ZETDC Checks Your Wiring for Safety

ZETDC announced on Thursday, March 27, that it plans to check electrical systems across Zimbabwe. These checks aim to keep people safe from electrical dangers and protect lives and property.

Recent house fires and accidents caused by bad wiring show why these checks matter. ZETDC isn't just doing paperwork—it's trying to prevent disasters before they happen. Dangerous wiring, bad connections, and systems that break rules can hurt people badly.

The company wants every electrical system to meet top safety rules. Their inspections will find problems early, helping to prevent fires, shocks, and other dangers. ZETDC has set fees for these important safety checks.

All customers must pay $25 for the basic inspection. If you have a small generator up to 100KW - whether it runs on gas, diesel, solar, or wind - you pay $5 for verification. Bigger generators over 100KW cost $50 to verify.

For deeper safety checks, small generator owners pay $20, large generator owners pay $100, and those with custom-built generators under 100KW also pay $100. ZETDC warns everyone only to make payments through official company channels.

Always ask for a receipt when you pay. Never give money directly to inspectors who come to your home. ZETDC knows these checks might be annoying but believes your family's safety comes first. They ask everyone to help their inspection teams.

Following these rules helps create safer homes for everyone. The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority will oversee the whole process and ensure that all inspections follow proper safety rules for every installation.

The company didn't mention exactly when the inspections would start or finish. The notice only explained the new program and its costs. ZETDC believes that working together will prevent future electrical accidents across the country.
