ZIFA hands six-match ban to referee Qedisani Dirwai after Dynamos walk-off row

Zimbabwe Football Association officials imposed a six-match ban on Premier Soccer League referee Qedisani Dirwai following his performance during the FC Platinum versus Dynamos encounter. The contentious fixture occurred at Mandava Stadium on June 22, 2025, during Matchday 17 of the current season. Players from Dynamos abandoned the field after 75 minutes when Dirwai awarded a penalty against captain Emmanuel Jalai for fouling Oscar Bhebhe. The referee committee based its decision on the Match Commissioner's detailed assessment of the game. Officials cited Paragraph 21 of the Referees Code of Conduct as justification for the disciplinary action.

Dirwai will miss fixtures from Matchdays 18 through 23 as part of his punishment. The Premier Soccer League also sanctioned Dynamos with a US$5,000 fine for causing the match to be abandoned. Head coach Saul Chaminuka received a personal penalty of US$4,000 and faces a two-game touchline suspension. Association representatives stated that the measures reflect their commitment to maintaining professional officiating standards. The incident highlights ongoing challenges with match management and player conduct in domestic competition.
