Zim-China Trade Talks Heat Up at FOCAC Summit

Zimbabwe's Foreign Affairs Minister Amon Murwira met with China's cooperation chief Chen Xiaodong at the African summit. Leaders talked about trade deals and business partnerships during the FOCAC meeting at Changsha. Both countries want stronger economic ties through industrial cooperation and development projects. The meeting happened Tuesday as part of the bigger Forum on China-Africa Cooperation event.

Chen praised the friendship between China and African nations. He said partnerships help both regions build better economies and living conditions. The cooperation forum marks 25 years of bringing African and Chinese leaders together. Chen believes regular meetings create better futures for millions of people. Trade officials work together on business deals across both regions.

President Mnangagwa joined other African leaders at last year's Beijing summit. Zimbabwe and China signed several agreements to boost economic cooperation during that meeting. The current ministerial talks happen alongside the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. Both events showcase business opportunities between the regions.
