Zimbabwe Firms Snag 18M Payday at DRC Mining Week

Zimbabwean companies scored export contracts worth more than 18 million dollars at DRC Mining Week in Lubumbashi. The deals happened during a three-day mining expo in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Seven local firms displayed their products and services to major mining companies. ZimTrade export officer Renwick Wachenyuka said the agreements involved supplies to large mines like Gecamines and Kamoa Copper. The companies operate mills that process hundreds of tons of material monthly.

Charter Seeds, Megabreeze, and five other Zimbabwean businesses took part in the regional event. They showed mining equipment, engineering parts, and farm supplies to buyers from the booming resource sector. Wachenyuka said the success proves local goods can compete well in foreign markets. He stressed that firms need better production capacity and faster delivery times. Companies must also set up local distribution points in the DRC for steady supply and customer support.
