Zimbabwe mourns humble national hero Luke Mushore at Heroes Acre

Thousands of people gathered at National Heroes Acre to honor Luke Mushore at his burial ceremony. President Mnangagwa led the service for the veteran politician who died at age 76. Mushore earned respect through his honest work rather than flashy campaigns. Voters trusted him because he cared about their daily needs. His life showed true dedication to serving ordinary citizens.

Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe praised Mushore as a humble leader who never sought power for himself. The former Mashonaland Central provincial chairman won his position without any campaign efforts. Party members chose him because everyone respected his character and work ethic. He remained calm and modest throughout his political career. His actions spoke louder than words when helping communities.

Mushore fought during the liberation war under the name Dick Joboringo. He participated actively during land reform programs that gave farms to local people. The war veteran became a successful farmer who grew maize and wheat crops. His agricultural work helped boost the province's economic growth. He climbed through party ranks from local cell member to provincial leader.

Family members expressed gratitude for the national hero status given to their grandfather. His granddaughter Natalie described him as a devoted family man who worked hard for his relatives. She said he protected his siblings and taught everyone about dedication. Minister Christopher Magomo called him a decorated veteran who served his country well. The military honored Mushore with a 17-gun salute during the ceremony.
