Zimbabwe prosecutors told to shape up on cybercrime

Zimbabwe prosecutors heard a tough message from their leader about cleaning up the system. Prosecutor General Loyce Matanda-Moyo called for stronger ethics at a recent training workshop in Harare. She told staff that integrity remains essential for justice work. Her comments came during an event focused on both professional standards and fighting digital crime. The National Prosecuting Authority organized this training as part of celebrations marking ten years of service.

The workshop addressed growing concerns about online criminal activity threatening the country. Prosecutors learned about various digital threats, including internet fraud schemes. An expert speaker emphasized how digital security affects public confidence in government systems. Officials warned that cybercrime already poses serious problems for Zimbabwe. The new Cyber and Data Protection Act gives prosecutors tools to address these modern crimes.

Law enforcement leaders want prosecutors ready for both traditional and technology-based cases. Staff members received practical training on maintaining professional standards. The authority aims to build public trust through honest prosecution work. Officials believe better preparation will help them handle complex digital evidence. The training session represented an urgent call for improved standards across the legal system.
