Zimbabwe Rallies Together to End TB by 2030

Zimbabwe joined many countries to mark World TB Day recently at Mahusekwa District Hospital in Mashonaland East Province. People gathered under the banner, "Yes! We can end TB. Commit, Invest, Deliver." The event drew thousands of attendees, and various partners promised ongoing help against tuberculosis.

Health Minister Dr. Douglas Mombeshora asked everyone to fight TB together through a speech delivered by Dr. Paul Matsvimbo, the Provincial Medical Director. He stated that ending TB requires everyone to work as one team across Zimbabwe. He called for each person, group, neighborhood, and organization to step up and contribute their part.

The minister specifically asked program leaders and government planners to keep TB a top health priority across the country. He pushed for finding local money to address funding shortages that slow progress. He thanked medical staff—doctors, nurses, and health practitioners—for standing at the front lines against tuberculosis.

He stressed the importance of finding every single person suffering from TB. The minister encouraged healthcare workers to create better ways to discover cases and to always treat patients with respect and kindness throughout their care journey.
